Volume Kit ("the extension") is a Chrome extension that lets you adjust the playback volume of the browser tab you are using — boosting it up to 1000% or lowering it — with optional equalizer presets. This policy explains what the extension does and does not do with your information.
None. Volume Kit does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information, browsing history, or usage analytics. There are no servers, no accounts, no tracking, and no third-party services. The developer has no access to any of your data.
The extension captures the audio of the active tab only after you interact with it, and processes that audio entirely on your device using the browser's built-in Web Audio engine. Audio is never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere — it passes through a volume and equalizer stage in real time and is played straight back to you.
To make the extension useful, a small amount of your own settings are saved locally using
Chrome's storage API. This data stays on your device (and syncs only through
your own Chrome profile if you have Chrome Sync enabled). It includes:
This information is never transmitted to the developer or any third party. You can clear it at any time by removing the extension or clearing its data in Chrome.
Volume Kit requests only the permissions required to control tab volume:
activeTab, tabCapture, offscreen, tabs,
and storage. It uses no content scripts, does not read the content of web
pages, does not access all websites, and does not intercept network requests. Each
permission is used solely to capture and adjust the current tab's audio and to remember your
settings locally.
Volume Kit is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. Because it collects no data, it does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
